毎年夏になると穏やかで美しい葉山の海岸に海の家が現れます。地元の竹を使って建てられるその家は、夏が過ぎると解体され廃棄処分となっていました。そこでその廃材を利用し、庭の垣根をつくることを考えました。波の泡のように積み上げられた竹の輪は、やわらかく視線を遮りながらも海からの風を通していきます。

セルフビルドによって毎年少しずつ形を変え増えていくこの垣根が、葉山での暮らしの一部となり、葉山の風景の一つとなっていきます。この地をこよなく愛する住まい手が、自ら風景を作り上げていく贅沢を感じ、葉山への思いをより大きなものへと育てていくことを期待しています。

Every year when it becomes summer, a seaside houses appears in the calm and beautiful Hayama coast. These houses are built using the local bamboo, are dismantled and scrapped when summer is over. So we proposed to build a garden fence with this scrap material. The bamboo rings which are stacked like bubbles in the sea (a wave of foam), softly block the line of sight while letting the sea breeze blow through.

This garden screen changes little by little every year through self-building. It will be a part of life in Hayama and it will become a part of the scenery. The resident who loves it here will have the luxury of making the scenery themselves. We hope that the love of Hayama will grow larger and larger.
